On the 30th of September at 11.30 a.m. we will host our Meshless Methods Overview Webinar. In this webinar we will look at three modelling techniques in Abaqus; SPH (Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics), CEL (Coupled Eulerian Lagrangian) and DEM (Discrete Element Modelling).
As well as the traditional Lagrangian elements that FE users will be familiar with, Abaqus is supplied with an additional suite of elements that can be broadly grouped under the title of ‘meshless methods’. These alternative discretisation techniques allow the capabilities of Abaqus to be extended to include problems where gross distortion or material flow can be represented in a way that traditional elements may not allow.
For each technique the webinar will walk through how they are implemented in Abaqus and consider practical examples demonstrating when each technique is most appropriate. Example applications where these techniques might be appropriate include fluid flow, fluid-structure interact, super-plastic forming and granular material handling simulations. This capability is available without the need for extended tokens and therefore may be of interest to anyone already familiar with Abaqus.
